Comments:The one thing I remember the most is when the a medic would run into the Mess Hall or the Hootches, calling for liter barriers. You did not hesitate one second. You got up and ran towards the PRE-OP where the medic vac chopper landed. If there was only one soldier or six, we were there to help them get medical treat. They were not all good times, but when you would see soldiers on crutches or being carried out on a liter to chopper, for the Hospital in Long Binh, those were the good times.

Comments:My email address listed in contacts was an old one. The new one is the one above. I was sprayed with Agent Orange in July 1970. I recently had colon cancer which is now in remission but am concerned that I may get another form of cancer. I used to councel Nam vet and saw many vets get one cancer, beat it and then come down with another form of this disease. They usually died in a year or so. I know Tay Ninh was one of the most heavily sprayed areas with AO from the research I did. I would be interested in any information regarding this from anyone who served in Tay Ninh.

Comments:Welcome Home I was dusted off to the 45th on 7/22/68 while with A/4/23 25th Inf Div. I wasn't there long, after surgery you sent me to the 12th Evac. in Cu Chi, The only person I remember was a nurse who told me I had long toes. I want to thank you for the outstanding service at low cost. Later in the year I was with the 187th AHC and we were neighbors.I did get a chance to give blood for you guys, but it was the night of Rat Pack 6s' going home party so it was about 60 proof. I am making my daughter a history of my VN experience and your site has the best pictures of Tay Ninh so you saved my butt again. Thanks again. Clyde

Comments:I was in the 196th across the road from the 45th in Tay Ninh West. I was already there when your unit set up in 10/66. Anyway I was wondering if I could pick your brain for some info if you possibly can remember Filing compensation claim with VA and I can't remember the date an event occurred one night while was I was there (8/66-4/67) It happened during one of the major operations (Attleboro, Cedar Falls, Junction City, Gadsen, etc.) I went out of our hootch in the middke of the night to go to the bathroom. While I was out there I observed a Chinook helicopter that was still running. At the back of the Chinook there were people unloading many KIA's. I remember this distinctly but just am unable to remember the date which the VA says I need. Could you provide any info? It would most helpful. Thanking you in advance.

It was great getting back together again, and we found that we live only 130 miles apart and we both ride. For Father's Day my daughter, Melissa, made a video for me, using old pics that both Jerry and I had from Vietnam as well as pictures from recent Rolling Thunder years. It has been posted on Youtube.com and the search name is: "Melissa's gift for Dad" Check it out.... and I am looking for others that were there at the same time 69-70 email me at uturnbiker@yahoo.com or you can find me on Facebook under Frank Sabo Look forward to hearing from you.

Captain Whitback was at that time still alive and attended his funeral in Sarasota, Florida. I don't know if he is still alive. I recently was given an envelope of pictures taken by my uncle when he was in the CBI theater. I don't know if their are any historians out there who might be interested in them. If you are please contact me at the above e-mail address. Many of the pictures are labeled, although not all are. I am not sure I would be able to digitalize the photos but would be happy to send them to someone who would. My Uncle was so proud of serving his country and being able to save the lives he did... Thank you for featuring him on your site.

Comments:B/8th Support Btln 196 LIB
I and the kid I was with were the second and third patients of the 45th as I remember. It was Nov 10, 1966 and we hit a land mine on road out of Tay Ninh and we were dusted to the hospital. My name is David Treese and I was a PFC at the time. My skin was hanging off my arms and I had 2nd and 3rd burns. I was just a kid and did not know what I was in for. I though it was like a bad sun burn and in two weeks it would be all over. I remember a wonder female nurse and her rank was a major but I do not remember her name. She and the rest of the group took very good care of me. I can still remember waking up in the OR and they put me under again. The doctors and the nurses did a wonderful job on me and got me ready to go to Long Bein (spelling) evac hospital. I was sent all the way home to Ft. Sam and Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio at the military Burn Center and was in rough shape but with all the hard work by everybody on my behalf I cam through it well. I am an old man now but I realize that I am truly a blessed man and have been blessed every day of my life.
I want to say Thank You for keeping me alive and God Bless

Comments:Served at the 45th in 1969. Thought others might be interested in a trip I took to Vietnam last year. While in Saigon, I hired a driver and an interpreter and went back to Tay Ninh. The city looks very similar to 1969 with some date related improvements. The people are very friendly and bear no animosity to Americans. We were unable to find the exact site of the base. It's all farm land in the approximate area of the base camp and there is no sign of the war. Went to Nui Ba Den which is a local park in honor of the "Heroes of Nui Ba Den--the VC. There's a cable car that goes 3/4 of the way up the mountain to a Buddhist shrine. The view from the shrine is worth the trip up. Contrary to the American view point, the war here ended a long time ago.

Comments:Please visit my yahoo group called vietnamveteranswiveshut. Through the help of the men and women whom have lived that war for the past 3 decades some of the families have gained knowledge of PTSD that has helped them to cope with or forgive those that suffer from this illness. God bless our veterans and welcome home my brothers and sisters.

Comments:Strowling through your guest book, I could not miss several entries that were written by two daughters of my husband Rik Bellerue. I honestly feel for the daughters but I feel for my husband as well. I have seen paperwork that proves that he is not a dead beat dad and did pay child support on his FIVE children. It is sad how some of our men and women returned from this war to later face the war with-in themselves due to PTSD. Please take the time to search the internet about this disabling illness that effect our men and women 3 decades past that war. I have been married to 3 Viet Nam veterans, one deceased, one divorced and my loving husband to this date Rik. He knows what has occurred and he lives every day remembering and regretting a lot but we can not take back those years but we can however go forward. When parents divorce it is sad that the children are used as tools to wedge and drive away one of the parents and due to personnel reasons that parent whom has custody of the child
