| Comments: | I served with the 4/9th machus/25Inf Div and once I got off line I ran the Holiday Inn across the street from the 45th. Some of the guys and girls of the 45th used to come over and we would party together. I also joined them at the houch for drinks at different times also. Some of the guys I remember were Walter Hichock, Jim Moore, and a suppy guy anmed Riker that loved Peggy Lee as well as soome of the nurses, one whom called me "BUZ"that were assigned there in 1970. I left Tay Ninh in August of 70. If anyone remembers me or our times together give me a hollar and last but not least, thanks to all of you for supporting our infnatry while we were over there. |

| Comments: | I just happened onto your website with a Google search. What a great site. I love it.
I served as Commanding Officer of the 45th Surg from August, 1967, until June or July, 1968. The original CO, Gary Wratten, was a close personal friend and I was selected to inform his wife, Shirley, of his death after Gary was killed in a mortar attack at Tay Ninh in November, 1966.
I have some old pictures which I will get digitized and forward to you.
Thanks again for a great website.

we had no equipment, we did have 1-jeep for capt. kerlin. The initial load of personnel came from MTC on a bus.
if interested I have personnel pictures and vhs film from that era. |

I and the kid I was with were the second and third patients of the 45th as I remember. It was Nov 10, 1966 and we hit a land mine on road out of Tay Ninh and we were dusted to the hospital.
My name is David Treese and I was a PFC at the time. My skin was hanging off my arms and I had 2nd and 3rd burns. I was just a kid and did not know what I was in for. I though it was like a bad sun burn and in two weeks it would be all over.
I remember a wonder female nurse and her rank was a major but I do not remember her name. She and the rest of the group took very good care of me. I can still remember waking up in the OR and they put me under again.
The doctors and the nurses did a wonderful job on me and got me ready to go to Long Bein (spelling) evac hospital. I was sent all the way home to Ft. Sam and Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio at the military Burn Center and was in rough shape but with all the hard work by everybody on my behalf I cam through it well.
I am an old man now but I realize that I am truly a blessed man and have been blessed every day of my life.
I want to say Thank You for keeping me alive and God Bless |

| Comments: | Served at the 45th in 1969. Thought others might be interested in a trip I took to Vietnam last year. While in Saigon, I hired a driver and an interpreter and went back to Tay Ninh. The city looks very similar to 1969 with some date related improvements. The people are very friendly and bear no animosity to Americans. We were unable to find the exact site of the base. It's all farm land in the approximate area of the base camp and there is no sign of the war. Went to Nui Ba Den which is a local park in honor of the "Heroes of Nui Ba Den--the VC. There's a cable car that goes 3/4 of the way up the mountain to a Buddhist shrine. The view from the shrine is worth the trip up. Contrary to the American view point, the war here ended a long time ago. |

| Comments: | Strowling through your guest book, I could not miss several entries that were written by two daughters of my husband Rik Bellerue. I honestly feel for the daughters but I feel for my husband as well. I have seen paperwork that proves that he is not a dead beat dad and did pay child support on his FIVE children. It is sad how some of our men and women returned from this war to later face the war with-in themselves due to PTSD. Please take the time to search the internet about this disabling illness that effect our men and women 3 decades past that war. I have been married to 3 Viet Nam veterans, one deceased, one divorced and my loving husband to this date Rik. He knows what has occurred and he lives every day remembering and regretting a lot but we can not take back those years but we can however go forward. When parents divorce it is sad that the children are used as tools to wedge and drive away one of the parents and due to personnel reasons that parent whom has custody of the child |
