I was with the 45th Surgical Hospial from Dec 1968 to Oct 1969.
I started out as the Company Clerk and ended up as Supply Clerk.
I got my ring finger torn off on my right hand,
moving a conex from beside of the rocket wall.
I also ran the NCO club (open to all) that was behind the mess hall.
Is this an active site if not let's get it going again.
Thanks mike g

Thanks for putting together your 45 Surg site.
Found it listed on the 187 AVN site.
I served with A CO, 229th AVN BN, 1ST CAV at Tay Ninh
from MAR 69-OCT 69 as a pilot. We were on the NE corner
of the base and my crew and hootch mates were friends
with some of the 45ths nurses. I'm confused on some info
I saw in your guest book. I thought the 45th was still
at the Tay Ninh when I left. We brought a wounded crew member
(Jack {Kid} Foster) there on 4 SEP 69, he stayed 7 days.
And, I was treated there. Sorry, wrote too much--but to finish,
I was treated there about 10 SEP for four days.
Thank you for my treatment and for Jack. He wasn't supposed
to make it even 7 days but he survived until this past OCT 3
when he died of complications from his wounds.
You angels gave him 32 more years and the chance to have a
wife an two grown sons. Thank you, John

I was sure where to plug in at so I hit this email address.
My name is Jim Strzalkowksi.
Tay Ninh July 1968 to July 1969.
My unit was 25th Div, 23rd Infantry, 4th Bn, Company C.
It was a Mechanized (APC's) Infantry unit.
I was a F.O. for the Mortar Platoon, then Squad leader.
I didn't come back with many names.
I read one story about the Rubber plantation and the APC's.
Sounds like the one I was in.
But I guess a lot of these stories sound the same.
Could you please post my name and outfit on your site?
Maybe some of the guys I fought with will recognize my name.
Nick name was "Alphabet" but anyone who had a name as long as mine was called "Alphabet."
I still have a few pictures but no scanner.
Might be able to scan from work but will have to get help from someone.
I'm not very good at this computer stuff.

I will be In Washington, DC on November 11, 2002 for the 20th Anniversary of the Viet Nam Wall.
Being sent there as a special guest of the VFW.
They chose 50 of us from across the USA to go and represent all the Viet Nam vets.
Requirements were to have serve in Nam and to have received the Purple Heart.
So All of you guys out there will be well represented by Combat soldiers.
I will take pictures of it if interested let me know.
My email address is jskiga@aol.com
I live in Lawrenceville, Ga, just outside of Atlanta.

Thanks for the Website.
It makes me proud again!!!!!!!

Sincerely,

Jim "Ski" Strzalkowski

PS "Ski" is the new nick name.
People here in the south have trouble with "Strzalkowski" :=)
