Comments: My Uncle Frank was the Dr. Frank Mainella featured on the webpage about the 45 Portable Surgical Hospital.
He passed away in August 20, 2003. Captain Whitback was at that time still alive and attended his funeral in Sarasota, Florida.
I don't know if he is still alive. I recently was given an envelope of pictures taken by my uncle when he was in the CBI theater.
I don't know if their are any historians out there who might be interested in them.
If you are please contact me at the above e-mail address. Many of the pictures are labeled, although not all are.
I am not sure I would be able to digitalize the photos but would be happy to send them to someone who would.
My Uncle was so proud of serving his country and being able to save the lives he did...
